HOLY CRAP!
Oh man...Mom just told me that my uncle Paul who studies wolves is going to study polar bears WAYYYYYY up north in Canada. HOLY CRAP! Lemme tell ya what's gonna happen...
Right now my uncle is in Alaska, in Denali National Forest Park (whatever it's called). He's there assisting a professor with the studies of wolves in the park there. He just finished his masters on wolves and published a 99 page thesis paper about his studies in the last 6 to 7 years in the northern Canada territories.
NOW the freaking man wants to go MUCH MUCH further north to study Polar Bears? Is he freaking insane?! He has a girlfriend that is just...JUST 2 years older than me, she's freaking 25 years old!!!!! He is almost 40, one more year to go till he's a 40ish man now. Sheeeeesh!
The problem is this...if he does go NOW, we will not see a peep of him for 3 years. GAH! As proud as I am of the man...I'm frowning upon this one.

See that red dot in Minnesota? That's where I am, also where he's from. The dot in Alaska is where he's now. The dot all the damn way up there is EXACTLY where he's gonna be for the next 3 years. *smacks head on wall*
Paul has been up near Calgary and Edmonton in Canada, that's mainly where he studied wolves in the last few years. Now this one is a HUGE leap from what he's used to. These animals are bigger, they have acute sense of smell...VERY accurate. This one is from my own brain archives...polar bears can smell prey 2 miles away. THAT is scary. HELL! I rather pee in front of a horny wolf...thank ya very much!
For those curious...try and find this damn town called Iglufik (I think...my map is fuzzy!) or it is Igloolik. Well, what ever the fuck works. But that's where dear uncle is going. Geezus, I hope I do see him again before he leaves for that trip. Grandma Lee is hoping that he'll make it down for christmas before taking a leave of absence for 3 years. Fuck, by then I might be married or even having a kid. One thing for sure, I'll be at U of MN, WOOT!
All together, I'm proud of him...I just hope he comes back alive. And...I don't know what this study is for, just that he's tracking the polar bears and I hope he's not going alone.
